Plastic Scale Model Kits

I'm pretty sure, like me when you was younger you were probably given some sort of model airplane kit or plastic unpainted soldiers and usually from Airfix. I used to love building these models, alas, we only seemed to get fighter planes as, unfortunately, we were 12 miles away from our closest hobby shop. My mother worked for herself and so did my grandparents, which made it difficult to go get other kits and supplies.

As a child, I had plenty of these which were put together in a slapdash kind of way. They would resemble the model on the box, but mine would have glue residue, carpet fibres and pieces of the dog stuck to them! But I enjoyed following the instructions to build them, unfortunately, we were 12 miles away from our closest hobby shop, my mother worked for herself and so did my grandparents, which made it difficult to go get supplies. So the hobby never really took hold. In my late teenage years, I returned to the hobby as I'd got an apprenticeship, as an engineer, and walked past a hobby store every day on my way to and from work. I changed a little, building 1/24 scale racing cars. I soon discovered women and settled down had kids, got married, bought a house, ran a business and all of a sudden it all stops again.

I've been bitten by the bug.

I re-started some aspect of modelling around 5 years ago by painting Warhammer figures, as the internet has made the world even smaller, supplies are easy to come by. I have decided to go back to 1/24 scale cars. Part of the reason for this was a recent visit to hobbyco at the Queen Victoria Building on George St. in Sydney NSW. They are an old fashioned type of Toy/Model/Game/Hobby store and they stock almost everything. They have a massive collection of model kits to choose from and I bought four while I was there. I bought a couple of Revell kits, a Tamiya Alpine A110 and an Aoshima Datsun S30 Fairlady 240z.

We have just taken in over 50 kits from a collector and I may find a couple in that collection to build myself. They are all mainly airplane kits with a couple of ground vehicles and ships. They will be uploaded in the next couple of days.
