Our chilhood Toys

So we thought we would try to remember some of the toys we had when we were younger. We both grew up in the 70's & 80's when toys were (in my opinion) really cool and when children were allowed to play without fear of infringing some ridiculous health and safety law!
It was a simpler time back then, we went out on adventures, played army, went scrumping and if we got hurt we learned from it. This has all been lost nowadays and children are left to sit in front of the TV with a tablet for company, always being guided in how to play whilst there imagination is locked away. I'm so glad I am a child of the 70's.
One of the first toys I remember was TCR, Total Control Racing, I'm going to repeat that, Total Control Racing........
It was anything but, I just couldn't get it to work properly. The set I had had three cars, one of which was a Jam car, it moved slightly slower than the two race cars but didn't make any difference as overtaking was almost impossible. Due to speed & I guess gravity the cars would jump to the outside lane around bends and as the track had raised edges, you didn't need to learn any control to keep the cars on the track. It just became a procession of cars running around the outside lane, nose to tail - Formula 1 has almost achieved the same!
In all fairness it problably was to skilful a control system for a 6/7 year old to handle, but I did spend ages just watching the cars wiz round the track, I actually loved it for all the wrong reasons. When ever we have any sets in stock I love to set them up and play with it, err I mean test them......and I'm still rubish, but it still makes me smile.
